volteFace - Anonymizing Photos

You might use volteFace when you need to share one or more photos with others on social media, photo sharing, and file sharing services. This screen allows you to select and anonymize photos.

You can also view in-depth information about a selected photo, including information currently stored in the photo's metadata, simply by tapping any photo.

Perform the following steps to anonymize photos. We'll refer to this process as anonymizing.

Press the Start Button

volteFace Photo Roll Access Authorization

The first time you use volteFace, you'll be prompted to allow the app to access your photo roll.

Access to your photo roll is needed so that you can select photos, and so that volteFace can anonymize them.

Select Ok to continue.

Select the Photos to Anonymize

Select Photos to Anonymize

The photos in your camera roll will be displayed.

Tap the Select option, then select the photos to anonymize.

Tap the Start button on the bottom toolbar to start anonymizing your selected photos.

Anonymizing Photos Progress

The photos you selected will be anonymized. During this process you will see the status of the anonymizing process, including the number of faces and photos anonymized.

If you made a mistake, and want to cancel the anonymizing of your photos, simply select the Stop button in the bottom toolbar, or select Back.

While processing, volteFace does not alter any of the original photos in your photo roll. Instead, a copy of the photos that you selected for processing is made, and these are saved to app-created photo albums.

This gives you the ability to manage these photos directly from the Apple Photos app, if you wish.

Photos that are successfully processed will appear as a color thumbnail in the anonymizing status screen, and are saved to the volteFace Anonymized photo album on your device.

For more information on how to review photos that were successfully processed, refer to Managing Anonymized Photos.

If any photos could not be anonymized, they will appear in greyscale in the anonymizing status screen, and are saved to the volteFace Review photo album on your device.

For more information on how to review photos that could not be anonymized, refer to Reviewing & Editing a Photo.
