What is deviceOwl?
The knowledge of a device's capabilities can help you make better decisions about how to protect yourself, and the people you care about.
If you are using deviceOwl for the first time, please refer to our Introduction.
Lets review the features available from the main screen. In the instructions below, we'll refer to your smartphone or tablet as a "device".
Once you have installed deviceOwl from the App Store, run the app. The main screen will be displayed.

Each time you check a device, deviceOwl confirms whether you have the latest device knowledge. If this is the first time you are using deviceOwl, you'll need to install device knowledge prior to checking devices.
Otherwise, if updated device knowledge is available, you can update it prior to checking.
Important: If you are planning to travel to an area with limited or no Internet, please update your device knowledge before you leave, which avoids having to worry about updating while you travel.
For more information, please refer to Knowledge Updates.
